ABOUT
Seiltänze by Wolfgang Krolow is a visual love letter to the gritty, vibrant Kreuzberg of the early 1980s. Through about 100 striking black-and-white images, Krolow captures street acrobats, wall murals, punks, immigrants, and everyday passersby performing their own “tightrope dances” amidst the urban chaos. The book features texts by Rolf Hosfeld and Peter-Paul Zahl plus a foreword by Werner Orlowsky, framing the photographs as a poetic exploration of public space, community tension, and emerging subcultures. These images reflect both spontaneity and a deep empathy, portraying Kreuzberg as a place of creative resistance, cultural collision, and raw humanity.
