ABOUT
This photo book by Soviet war photographer Valery Faminsky (1914–1993), published in German and English, is a volume of photographs that depicts the liberation of Berlin and the first days of peace in the city from a personal, but above all, very human, perspective. Taken without any kind of pathos or propaganda, these photographs depict the longing for peace and the reality of war with a humanistic eye. Their authenticity and closeness to the events, which get under your skin, allow the viewer to become a witness to these historic hours and days. Judging by the outstanding artistic quality of his photographs, Valery Faminsky is on a par with photographers such as Yevgeny Khaldei and Robert Capa.
