Acid-laced portraits of Swedes, of petit-bourgeois neighbourhoods and of a seemingly absurd and boring life in Sweden. A commentary filled with humour and sadness. Lars Tunbjörk had an astute eye and he brilliantly dissected the socio-political Swedish landscape, in a manner much similar to his colleauge Martin Parr.
Much loved and well received was his first book, Landet Utom Sig (1993), which became a major door opener for Swedish photography to reach a wider audience. Born in 1956 in Borås in Sweden, Lars sadly passed away in 2015. This is the great retrospective book about Lars Tunbjörk and his peculiar visual world. Collected here are his best pictures, all characterized by his keen eye for the surreal in everyday life.
