"The office is one of our most common workplaces. A common working environment, yet rarely attracting attention. Photographically, working life is often depicted in visually and emotionally charged settings – industry, shipping, farming, prisons, hospitals, psychiatric institutions etc. On the other hand middleclass life fails to attract most photographers and has thus been documented very little.
For Lars Tunbjörk (1956 - 2015), growing up in a lower middleclass environment, depicting his roots was a natural step. After the critically acclaimed book Country Beside Itself focusing on public space and leisure activities in Sweden, he wished to create a sequel depicting work.
At first he photographed several small and large companies and state establishments in Sweden. But with expanding globalization he felt it restrictive to visit Swedish offices only. Thus he sought out places of significant importance to international trade, such as Tokyo and New York’s Wall Street."
Condition
Good / Hardcover has some light signs of wear, most notably some bumps to the corners and along the right edge and a couple dirt spots. Inside in very good condition but with some edge discolouration.
