words & photographs is the first part of a trilogy of photo-texts within which Jesse Jackson IV explores his relationship to the camera, and the ways in which use of the camera has altered his perception of the world around him. words & photographs follows a rich tradition of photo-texts which preceded it, projects within which the authors of said texts wield each weapon with equal aplomb. Text may expound on photograph, photograph may illustrate text; there may exist but a most tenous relationship between the two, evocative as one, the other, or both may be of a state of mind more than anything else.
