ABOUT
South Korea, The Land of the Morning Calm. Photographer James Kostecky takes us on a journey into the heart of the country's capital city, Seoul. While searching earnestly for the morning calm, Kostecky finds perhaps something more interesting, a deep sense of purpose, despite the ever present chaos on the city's streets.
A Note From The Photographer: South Korea, The Land of the Morning Calm. Just hearing the name conjures up images of exotic Asia where one anticipates finding peaceful temples, calming incense, stunning landscapes and friendly, smiling locals. Well, one can certainly find those things in South Korea, but in its capital city, Seoul, one has to look hard to find them. I have the good fortune to live in Seoul and one of my first goals upon arriving was to earnestly search for the morning calm. More often than not, on my daily explorations, I found chaos in the form of mind-numbing traffic, smog-filled skies, hustling crowds and crazy taxi drivers. One thing I consistently found, however, was a deep sense of purpose expressed by the people.
